Spring has gone down – sudden summer!
In the alley, air is sweet
With its lurid, lilac laughter
Spilling over in the street.

Spring has gone down into August,
Bringing every bud to bloom;
Throwing color into chaos,
Lest the mournful March resume.

Spring has gone down – let us live it!
Now, the way it was before:
Hunkered down in honeysuckle,
Wiser for our wanting more.
